International

Dr. Sorkin deeply understands the specific cultural challenges and academic differences international students confront, and works with them not only on applications, but also on familiarizing themselves with the academic and social landscape of US universities. Bilingual in Spanish and experienced in working with families from China to Chile, Kazakhstan to Kenya, India to Ireland, Dr. Sorkin is co-author of the Wesleyan Intercultural Competence Scale and the former Coordinator for International Admission at Brown University.

With twenty-six years’ experience in the field, Dr. Sorkin is uniquely qualified to work with international students looking to study in the US. She understands the nuances of education abroad and of living in a new culture, and can help translate students’ experiences for the admissions committees of top universities and programs.

Dr. Sorkin works closely with international students applying to study in the United States at several levels: secondary, boarding, or prep school (high school); college (undergraduate or first university degree); and graduate school (advanced degree).
